India is preparing for the sixth edition of the National Family Health Survey (NFHS-6) in a spectacular effort to analyse the nations demographic and health landscape. The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) is spearheading this critical programme, which seeks to offer precise and trustworthy statistics on health and family welfare indicators, shedding light on developing concerns facing the nation.

The NFHS-6 is set to be a watershed moment since it will be led solely by the Government of India. This latest version, NFHS-6, will help the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in the decision-making process by delivering critical information and data-driven insights.

Comtech IT Education Trust, a well-known data management and market research firm, has been tasked with conducting fieldwork in the Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh. Comtech IT Education Trust will play a critical role in gathering accurate and comprehensive information from the International Institute for Population Sciences (IIPS) survey schedules by leveraging their extensive experience in data collection and analysis, particularly from hard-to-reach and rural populations.

The fieldwork for NFHS-6 is divided into two phases. In the first phase, a dedicated team of 154 investigators from Comtech IT Education Trust will visit the households for interviews and clinical, anthropometric, and biochemical (CAB) testing.

As the field investigators from Comtech IT Education Trust traverse the diverse landscapes of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, they will strive to collect data that truly reflects the ground reality. With a team comprised of nearly 60% female field investigators, the NFHS-6 data collection process also reflects a commitment to gender inclusivity and empowering women.

NFHS-6 will address growing concerns that are critical to Indias health environment. The National Family Health Survey has long been a cornerstone in Indias quest for better health outcomes for its population. With its enlarged reach and comprehensive methodology, NFHS-6 aims to provide policymakers, academics, and communities with essential insights into the nations health and family welfare landscape.
